Origin and History
Early Planning and Proposal
Talks of establishing a Roll-On/Roll-Off (RORO) terminal in Cordova began in 2010, when Mayor Adelino Sitoy proposed the port along with a reclamation area to support economic growth and inter-island connectivity .
In 2005, Cebu businessmen backed the initiative, emphasizing how such a terminal could stimulate local development and aid transportation of both passengers and goods to nearby provinces like Bohol.
Roro Port Cordova,it's serves as a key gateway for island hopping and transfers between Cebu and nearby islands. Most Filipino and tourist travelers make use of it for boat trips and ferries.
Location
The RORO Port is situated at Sitio Camolinas, Barangay Poblacion, Roro Port Road, Cordova, Cebu (6XR4+RH2) .
The Renovation Of Roro Port Cordova
In 2023, after the typhoon, the RORO port began to be renovated until it became more beautiful, and more and more tourists started visited.
Facilities include a basic terminal with an air-conditioned waiting area, though amenities like restrooms may be limited or in need of repair .
Tourist Attractions
Island hopping started in 2012, when more and more visitors began coming to the place. People of different nationalities, such as Koreans, foreigners, and others, also visit here. This is a place where you can explore different islands and enjoy many water sports activities like jet skiing, banana boat rides, free diving, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
Visitors often arrange island-hopping tours from here, with tour packages if the capacity of 15 persons it's 4,500 and if 25 persons it's 5,500 to 6,000 and if 30 persons its 7,000 to 8,000 depending on boat capacity and included features. Some offer food and drinks, but you can also bring your own .
One review describes being on the tour from 8 AM to 3 PM, then returning—so plan for a full-day outing .
Experience
I would like to share my experience here at the RORO Port. This is me with my cousins together with our councilor, Dodong Casquejo. Today is the Fluvial Day, where I attended to pay respect to our beloved patron, Señor San Pedro. He was paraded and carried on a boat, surrounded by many people who came to witness and honor him."
How it is affects to our communication and it's importance?
The port plays a role that stimulate our economic growth to be enable smoother transport of goods and passengers, especially to and from nearby islands. It boosts access for both small businesses and tourists.
